HOCKEY. Two players from the Drummondville region changed addresses on Monday when the QMJHL transaction market opened.
On the one hand, Drummondvillois attacker Lyam Jacques was repatriated by the Voltigeurs in an exchange with the Rimouski Océanic, as initially reported by L’Express. In return for the 19-year-old veteran, the Voltigeurs gave up a seventh-round pick in 2025.
The general director of the Voltigeurs, Yanick Lemay, was delighted with this addition.
“We’ve had our eye on him for some time now. Lyam is a striker known for his energetic play, intensity and hard work. Thanks to his speed, his enthusiasm and his character, he will be able to leave his mark on the ice, to the great pleasure of our fans,” said Yanick Lemay, specifying that the attacker will join his new teammates after the Christmas break.
With Lyam Jacques, Ethan Gauthier, Antoine Boudreau and Louis-Félix Charrois, the Voltigeurs now count on four local products in their ranks.
In his third campaign with Rimouski, Lyam Jacques scored a goal and collected three assists in 22 games. Twice in recent weeks he left the team for personal reasons.
Fifth round pick of the Océanic in 2021, Lyam Jacques helped the Cantonniers de Magog win the Jimmy-Ferrari Cup in 2022. The 6-foot, 164-pound winger is a product of the Cascades elite structure.
Émile Ricard in Chicoutimi
For his part, Émile Ricard will continue his career with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. The 17-year-old forward from Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover had requested to be traded by the Cape Breton Eagles.
In return for his services, the Saguenéens gave up a first round pick in the 2026 draft and a second round pick in 2027.
In 31 games with the Eagles this season, Émile Ricard had four goals and eight assists. Employed in the second line, the 6-foot, 171-pound left winger has collected seven points in his last ten games.
First round pick (12e overall) of the Eagles in 2023, Émile Ricard helped the Nova Scotia team reach the semi-final of the playoffs last spring.
Having studied with the Senators of Collège Saint-Bernard and the Cantonniers de Magog, Émile Ricard will wear number 11 for the Saguenéens.
