The CAF Awards 2024 ceremony, the equivalent of the African Ballon d’Or, ended with the coronation of Nigeria and Atalanta Bergamo striker Ademola Lookman. He was rewarded for his exceptional year: winner of the Europa League with a hat-trick in the final and finalist of the CAN where he was elected to the eleven type.
Among the other winners, Émerse Faé, who led Côte d’Ivoire to victory at the CAN at home after starting the competition as assistant to Jean-Louis Gasset, was elected coach of the year.
Chiamaka Nnadozie, the Nigerian goalkeeper of Paris FC where she has multiplied her exploits since her arrival in 2020, was named best goalkeeper in Africa for the second year in a row.
Named among the three finalists for the best player of the year, she was nevertheless beaten by Zambian striker Barbra Banda who plays for Orlando Pride, in the NWSL, the American women’s championship.
Finally, a Ligue 1 player is also on the list. This is the Monaco midfielder where he was transferred this summer from Metz, Lamine Camara (20 years old), who was voted best young player for the second year in a row.
