A national urban art prize for the City of Château-Thierry. The Cité de La Fontaine is rewarded in the respect of the environment mention for the developments carried out around the Palais des Rencontres, which limit the urbanized areas thanks to the reversibility of the spaces both in sports areas and in parking areas.
Although the project created 180 additional parking spaces, it was the greening of the site that was reinforced, helping to preserve a balance between urban development and improvement of the living environment. The work, still in progress, includes the creation of a poetic garden planned for 2025. This second phase will strengthen the accessibility and fluidity of the places, while promoting harmonious connections between the different components of the Blanchard district, which these are residential or collective spaces.
Limit urbanization
“Climate change is forcing us to rethink our practices, specifies Sébastien Eugène, mayor of Château-Thierry. The reversibility of spaces, still too little developed in France, is one of the responses to the limitation of urbanization. Château-Thierry is a pioneer here! »
A global approach governs these developments and this promotes better adaptation of the city to climate issues. The management of rainwater directly integrated into the site, without discharge into the rainwater network, thus aims to reduce the risks of flooding and runoff. The award also highlights the quality of the design by the project manager Rodolphe Chollet, in collaboration with the architect Thierry Bonne, and the implementation by the companies RVM and idVerde.
