Sunday morning, Hermine Le Clech was attacked by a man while she was in Wormhout, in the North, where a 22-year-old young man killed five people.
On Sunday morning, Hermine Le Clech was in Wormhout, in the North, very close to the house where the bloody series of murders perpetrated by a 22-year-old man began, when she was attacked. While she was live from RTL the journalist was violently attacked by a man who told her: “Get out of here!”.
The day before, a 29-year-old man, manager of a road transport company, was killed around 3:15 p.m. by several gunshots in front of his home. Then around 4 p.m., two security guards aged 33 and 37 who were patrolling their workplace were in turn shot dead on the outskirts of Loon-Plage in the direction of Dunkirk. A few minutes later, still on the outskirts of Loon-Plage, almost five kilometers further, two last men, who “could be of Iranian nationality (…) aged 19 and 30” were also murdered.

On RTL air, a car was heard before a man shouted several times: “Cleared !”. At first imperturbable, Hermine Le Clech’s voice finally fell silent, giving way to the sounds of an altercation. “We cut off the connection with her because obviously she’s in trouble. We will keep ourselves informed of the situation on site”then reacted Stéphane Carpentier, visibly worried.
Equipment destroyed
A few moments later, Sébastien Rouxel gave some news from the journalist. “If you were ever with us on the 9 o’clock news, you probably heard a shocking scene. Our journalist was attacked live while talking about this tragedy. I assure you, she is fine.”he indicated, specifying: “The entire RTL editorial team joins me in condemning these actions”.
In a statement published on X, the radio station reiterated its support. “While she was this Sunday morning carrying out a live intervention on the dramatic news story in Wormhout, in the North, an RTL reporter was violently attacked, threatened and forced to flee, her radio equipment being also destroyed by the aggressor”he is reminded.
“The management and editorial staff of RTL provide their full support to the attacked journalist, as well as to all journalists who faced hostility while covering this event, and strongly denounce the threats or violence directed against journalists.”
