NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will receive Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and several European leaders in Brussels on Wednesday, the Alliance announced Monday a few weeks before Donald Trump comes to power.
“The Secretary General will meet with President Zelensky on Wednesday. Other European leaders are in Brussels for a European summit and some of them will join them to discuss support for Ukraine, particularly on anti-aircraft defense,” said an Alliance official.
French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are expected to participate in this informal meeting, according to diplomatic sources.
Antonio Costa, the president of the European Council, which brings together the 27, and the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, are also expected to join them, a month before President-elect Donald Trump takes office in the United States.
