African football is holding its breath. This Monday evening, during the prestigious CAF Awards 2024 ceremony, the successor to Victor Osimhen The title of African Player of the Year will be revealed.
CAF Awards 2024: suspense at its height for the African Ballon d’Or
A few more hours and the big winner of the African Ballon d’Or will be revealed for the CAF Awards 2024. Five players are in the running for this distinction: the Ivorian Simon Adingra (Brighton & Hove Albion), the Guinean Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund), the Moroccan Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain), the Nigerian Ademola Lookman (Atalanta) and the South African Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns).
The South African goalkeeper, author of remarkable performances during the last African Cup of Nations, could create a surprise. Ivory Coast Elephant Simon Adingra is also a serious contender for the trophy. With the great performances crowned with various distinctions during CAN 2023, the reigning African champions are well placed to win the grail this Monday evening. But the attackers, notably Lookman and Guirassy as well as the full-back Hakimi, are also serious contenders for the title.
The CAF Awards 2024 ceremony, which will be held at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech at 7:00 p.m. (local time), will be an opportunity to celebrate the greatest talents in African football.

Since its creation, the African Ballon d’Or has seen many countries shine. Thus, Cameroon largely dominates the ranking with 11 titles, followed by Ivory Coast and Nigeria, tied with six trophies each.
