American boxing legend Floyd Mayweather was the victim of racist insults thrown by a crowd who criticized him for his support for Israel in the ongoing war against Hamas, in London on December 10.
According to the British newspaper The Sunthe boxer was shopping that day in the chic Hatton Garden district when a crowd gathered around him and began to criticize him for his pro-Israel positions.
The American star had, on October 11, 2023, announced his support for Israel and sent aid to its population thanks to his private jet, following the pogrom of October 7 perpetrated by Hamas terrorists which left 1,200 dead and took 251 people held hostage.

On his Instagram account, Floyd Mayweather explains that he was “in the United Kingdom during a quick 48-hour stopover to do some shopping and [que] unfortunately, people have allowed jealousy and negativity to fuel false stories.”
He claims that despite rumors that circulated following the incident, he had not “been hit or touched in any way”.
A source close to the boxer told The Sun that “the crowd uttered racist insults”.
On social networks, images show Floyd Mayweather surrounded by his bodyguards in the middle of a crowd which is visibly hostile to him.
An eyewitness told the British newspaper that there “were perhaps eight to ten people involved in the pursuit, and about 20 or 25 people watching […] Someone said Mayweather was shopping when he was asked why he supports Israel. He reiterated his request and said he was proud to support the Jews.”
