Firefighters from Saint-Thégonnec, Brasparts and Landivisiau intervened this Sunday morning, December 15, 2024, in Commana, for a house fire, which broke out at number 5, place de l'Église.
It was 7:45 a.m. when the only occupant of the house, a man in his fifties, saw smoke through the window, before noticing that flames were escaping from the exterior lean-to adjoining his home. The man quickly left his home before alerting the emergency services, who shortly after 9 a.m. had contained the incident.
Thick smoke in the house
The fire apparently started from the chimney of the lean-to serving as a laundry room: the flue first caught fire, then the flames spread to the wooden floor upstairs before the thick smoke spread inside. of the terraced house.
The man was taken as a precaution by firefighters to the Landerneau hospital center to check for possible carbon dioxide poisoning.
Enedis has cut off the electricity meter for safety reasons, which should be put back into service after checks. Housing,although soiled with soot at the place of smoke,
remains habitable, and will not require rehousing of its occupant.
