The sirens sound, the alerts multiply, cell phones warn of imminent danger, but everyone remains calm. The dancers practice at the barre, the orchestra rehearses in the pit and the singers vocalize in their rehearsal room. As if nothing had happened. Incredible resistance of Ukrainians whose Opera and Ballet have become the symbol of a life that continues. Their artists embody in their own way this incredible resilience that the world never ceases to admire.
Rather than giving up their activities, they adapted to the chaos of the conflict: they reduced the seven weekly performances to five shows – two ballets and three operas. They restricted the number of spectators at this superb Italian-style theater to 500, capable of accommodating 1000.
