SAINT-ÉTIENNE, France (AP) – In a move that underlines the urgency of their current situation, French club Saint-Étienne have terminated their contract with coach Olivier Dall’Oglio following a series of disappointing results. The announcement was made this Saturday, as the club continues to seek stability in its first season back in Ligue 1.
To compensate for this absence, Laurent Huard, who supervised the club’s academy, was appointed interim coach. The move reflects the club’s desire to stabilize its situation as it battles relegation.
Once a dominant force in French football, with a glorious history including a significant period of success in the 1960s and 1970s, Saint-Étienne is currently facing a difficult reality. After a 2-1 defeat at Toulouse on Friday, the club finds itself in a perilous position, occupying 16th place in the relegation zone.
