Around sixty dairy cows died following a fire on a Waterville farm during the night from Friday to Saturday.
According to the Director of the Waterville fire safety service, Patrick Giguère, firefighters were requested around 1:25 a.m. to go to Carrier Road.
When we arrived, the fire was already widespread throughout the building. The intervention was quite long, we are talking about 10 hours including cleaning.
explains Mr. Giguère.
In total, around twenty firefighters helped each other to fight the blaze. We asked for mutual assistance from Compton and North Hatley for the intervention
adds the director of the fire safety service.
Patrick Giguère does not believe that the fire was started intentionally. It doesn’t point in that direction.
The value of the damage to the agricultural building is not known.
