Avoine-Beaumont Gymnastics
Independent from Saint-Etienne
This live broadcast is hosted by journalists from the La Nouvelle République sports department.
Second apparatus: uneven bars
Halfway through, Avoine-Beaumont therefore leads five duels to one. Short fifteen-minute break, while the gymnasts warm up for the last two apparatus: the beam and the floor.
16-8. Kaylia Nemour receives a standing ovation from the audience after her time on the uneven bars. A controlled but lightened movement, without the famous Nemour, this element that she created. Lilou Marliac responds to him in this duel, which however returns (unsurprisingly) to Avoine-Beaumont.
13-7. Very difficult movement for Stéphanoise Séréna Charpy, who has to try it three times to complete it after having fallen. But she finds the strength to go through with the movement. Facing her, Elena Colas released a controlled movement, which allowed her to win the duel.
10-6. The local Perla Denechère was opposed to the visitor Carla Cardoso for this first duel on the bars, and both performed their movement perfectly. It is Avoine who wins the duel.
Remember that the gymnasts perform on the uneven bars on which Kaylia Nemour won her Olympic champion title.
First apparatus: jump
7-5. Opposed to Melyne Ledoux, Elena Colas won the duel and allowed Avoine to take the lead when changing equipment. They both presented a tense body yurchenko.
4-4. It was Saint-Étienne who won the second duel, which pitted Elly Souza de Lima against Louane Plisson. They both performed a yurchenko twist. “We had to make a difference on reception”judges Stéphanoise.
3-1. The first duel is won by Avoine. Stéphanoise Lilou Marliac presented a front somersault moon while local Kaylia Nemour performed a simple yurchenko twist.
Pre-match
15 h 55. The draw has been made, Saint-Étienne will open the competition!
15 h 52. The gymnasts have finished their warm-up and enter the floor in front of a packed house.
More than that, even, while the club volunteers rearranged everything to increase the capacity of the Parc gymnasium and thus be able to accommodate the 633 people present! “We expected a certain enthusiasm, admit Marc Chirilcenco. It was a new challenge, but it was also now or never to do our best, so we pulled out all the stops on hospitality. »
Kaylia Nemour obviously received a standing ovation from the audience.
15 h 50. The stakes of the match are high for Avoine-Beaumont: by winning, they will ensure their qualification for the semi-final. But he also wants to play this one at home. “However, for that, you have to finish first or second in the vertical ranking (all chickens included) and therefore accumulate as many duels as possible”, explains Marc Chirilcenco.
There is, however, little doubt as to the qualification of Avoine-Beaumont. The club had been crowned champion of France three times in a row, from 2021 to 2023, before being relegated to Nationale 1 for non-sporting reasons. A level at which the Veronese women did not stay for long, since they had topped the competition last season!
15 h 45. Saint-Étienne, for its part, enters the running after being exempt during the first day of groups (these are made up of three teams). Third last year, the club coached by Mélanie Margerit will be represented by eight gymnasts: Carla Cardoso, Lorette Charpy, Séréna Charpy, Inaya Lamri, Mélyne Ledoux, Lilou Marliac, Louane Plisson and Lucie Roulet.
“It is the French pole par excellence, which has provided the national selection for years, recalls Marc Chirilcenco, the coach of Avoine-Beaumont. There is obviously a little more stress than against Colomiers, because this match will be much more competitive. We will have to remain very, very vigilant. »
15 h 40. This is the second Top 12 match for Avoine-Beaumont. During the first, played in Colomiers a fortnight ago, the Veronese club was a hit (12-36), winning all twelve duels!
It must be said that the Veronese are led by a formidable trio (to put it mildly): the Olympic champion on the uneven bars Kaylia Nemour, the junior European champion (individual and team) Elena Colas and her partner Perla Denechère, she is also a junior European champion with Les Bleues. Great casting!
The team is completed by five other gymnasts: Jordane Bayer, Clara Roger Giaglis, Elly Souza de Lima, Rose Marchand and Juliette Ferandel. The latter, however, is not currently heating up. Her coach, Marc Chirilcenco, had warned that she had little chance of matching, because she trains less than the others due to her higher education.
15 h 35. A quick reminder of the competition format. A Top 12 match involves twelve duels played between the two teams, i.e. three duels on each of the four apparatuses. For example, Avoine first presents a gymnast on vault, then it is the turn of Saint-Étienne to line up one of its representatives. The one who achieves the best score among the two gymnasts offers three points to her team. A drawn duel is worth two points, a lost duel is worth one point. You must therefore win seven duels to win and think about strategy based on the gymnast aligned by the opposing team…
Four apparatuses are on the program, in this order: vault, uneven bars, beam and floor.
15 h 30. Hello and welcome to this live! On this beautiful mid-December day, Avoine-Beaumont hosts Saint-Étienne as part of the second day of Top 12. The match begins at 4 p.m.!
