It was after 1 a.m. this Saturday, December 14, 2024, when firefighters intervened in the south of Sarthe for a house fire in the town of Luché-Pringé. Inside the house, a mother, her four children aged 8 to 21 and two young friends.
If the fire was extinguished using three lances, two young men – the eldest son and one of his friends – were treated for burns: one on the hand, slightly, and the other on the leg, more seriously. They were taken to the Le Mans hospital center.
The device deployed was substantial: around ten vehicles used and thirty-nine firefighters mobilized, coming from the rescue centers of La Flèche, Le Lude, Luché, Pontvallain, and Dissay.
The mother in shock
The five other people were quickly taken care of by an elected official, whose house is located nearby. Around the mother, in a state of shock according to witnesses, a chain of solidarity was put in place. Two deputies secured the area around the house, which was now uninhabitable, and set up surveillance of the property.
The town hall has already announced that the family will be relocated, free of charge, in one of the chalets at the municipal campsite.
Remaining on site this Saturday morning, the gendarmes made the first observations. The fire apparently started from the garage before quickly spreading to the rest of the house. An investigation will determine the exact causes of this fire.
