In the stores that are relay points, there is excitement at the moment, a few days before Christmas.
At the Jeux Vidéo Plus store, on the Place du Martroi in Pithiviers, the team is well-established. She has been working with Mondial Relay for twelve years.
As his boss Olivier Perez puts forward, “it has taken on stratospheric proportions over the years. Before Covid, we were at saturation with 300 packages per day. With Covid, it was complete saturation”. Little by little, Mondial Relay opened other relay point stores in Pithiviers, lockers (lockers). Today, the video game store processes between 150 and 200 packages per day.
“Maybe 30% more volume”
“With the holidays, Black Friday, we have always experienced increases in quantity. But beyond that, it is the volume, the size of the packages that we receive, which is much more important,” underlines the manager. “Out of 180 packages, we have perhaps 30% more volume, that’s significant. In terms of storage, it’s therefore more complicated.”
Because, in addition to the usual envelopes and small boxes during the year, you have to deal with boxes that take up space!
The store's reserve is organized accordingly. “In fact, we organized our reserve around our relay point activity,” underlines the boss. There are lockers dedicated to envelopes, bags, small boxes, shelves for larger packages. Everything is listed alphabetically. Hence the speed of the team to bring you what you expect!
Afterwards, “there will be sales”
In the store, a space is dedicated to the relay point reception. A team was formed for these different tasks. When receiving the packages, there are three or four of them to receive, scan, put away… while welcoming customers who arrive to pick up a package or buy a video game, a manga, a figurine… Every day, it's a full palette arriving, in addition to seven to eleven bags! And Olivier Perez knows it well, even after the Christmas holidays, the crowds will be there “because there are sales!”
