The staff and parents of the primary school where she attended were in shock, with tears in their eyes, following this tragedy which occurred at rue Richard Lenoir.
“I was very touched to hear the news about the little one, it gave me a shock. I have four granddaughters: if that happens to me, I won’t get over it,” laments Marie -Claude, a resident of Flers.
“I saw a lot of fire trucks, ambulances, the police… The street was blocked, it's a very serious accident. We think of the teachers, the bus driver, all these people who will be traumatized “, joins Monique, who also lives in the town.
“The emotion is total”
The victim's parents indicated to the departmental education services that they did not want official communication. For its part, the municipality assures that it will support the family.
“The emotion is total, the city is touched in its heart because she is a child. It is a tragedy for the parents, I was there with my colleagues to support them, physically and morally,” assures Lori Helloco, first deputy at the town hall.
The elected official on the municipal council speaks of a “drama for the entire city”. “We have a core of children who witnessed the scene and for whom it is very difficult,” he recalls before having a thought for the teachers and specialized territorial agents present. They were the ones who had to provide first aid while waiting for help. In total, around twenty firefighters and a civil security helicopter were mobilized.
“We are never prepared for the death of a little girl, especially in these circumstances,” he laments.
An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the accident. Police custody of the driver of the vehicle has been lifted. All tests were negative, according to our information.
