The 6-year-old girl who drowned at Aquaboulevard died this Friday, December 13.
His state of health was described as “desperate”. A 6-year-old little girl died this Friday, December 13, after drowning at Aquaboulevard, a large water park in Île-de-France which welcomes some 500,000 visitors each year.
Transported to Necker hospital in critical condition, the victim did not survive, the mayor of the 15th arrondissement, Philippe Goujon, announced this Friday.
The accident occurred on Sunday December 8 in the large pool of the aquatic complex, located at Porte de Versailles in Paris. Accompanied by two other children of the family and her father, the little girl was taken care of by emergency services in critical condition, after having drowned in the large pool of the park, where she was forbidden to go.
Video surveillance would show that the little victim remained underwater for five minutes.
“Very skinny” hope
She was first taken out of the pool by an adult. A swimming instructor gave her a cardiac massage while she was in cardiorespiratory arrest. “His efforts, then the intervention of the Samu doctor once there, made it possible to restart his heart,” it is specified. The little girl was then evacuated in serious condition to Necker hospital in Paris.
In the days following the incident, the 6-year-old girl was brain dead and “the hope of seeing her wake up was very slim”, indicates the mayor of the 15th arrondissement, Philippe Goujon, to Le Parisien.
Shortly after the events, an investigation was opened by the 15th arrondissement police station. “These are extremely rare incidents on this site which has only experienced three cases of drowning since its opening more than 30 years ago,” Philippe Goujon commented at the start of the week about the park. “All safety procedures were respected,” insisted Alban Jolly, director of the water park.
