In Gironde, firefighters take action to extinguish a fire in Cardan

A fire broke out in Cardan, a village of around 500 inhabitants 30 km south-east of Bordeaux (Gironde), not far from Cadillac.

The events occurred on Thursday December 12, 2024, in the evening, around 8 p.m.

According to information collected by The South-Gironde Republican, the fire hit a building; more precisely the old presbytery, transformed into housing, adjoining the church.

Fire contained by firefighters

Warned at 8:04 p.m., firefighters intervened. Using three lances, including one on an aerial ladder, the firefighters managed to extinguish the flames and thus avoid spreading at the Saint-Saturnin church, a Romanesque building dating from the 12th century^e century classified as a Historic Monument.

S’there were no injuriesthe five occupants of the building, who emerged unharmed, had to be relocated with relatives.
