The roads of the Somme have once again been the scene of a violent traffic accident.

On Thursday, December 12, firefighters intervened for a collision between two vehicles on the D938, at Clery-sur-Sommenext to Peronne. An accident involving a car and a van.

THE firefighters had to extricate the driver of the BMW to extract him and take charge of him. The victim was then examined by the team. SMUR de Péronne, dispatched to the scene before being taken to the hospital center from Amiens.

He was trying to cross a river

In the van, there was no one behind the wheel. The driver fled after the accident. The latter was caught shortly after by the gendarmes as he crossed a river to escape the soldiers.

Warmed and then placed in police custody, the driver explained that he had fled because he did not hold a driving license. He will have to answer for his actions soon in the criminal court.

Throughout the duration of the intervention, the road axis was closed and secured by the gendarmerie, in collaboration with the services of the DIR (interdepartmental roads directorate).
