The British designer also took part in the big fashion transfer window. This Thursday, December 12, we learned of her departure from Carven and in the process her arrival at Bottega Veneta, where she succeeds Matthieu Blazy… who left for Chanel.
The year ends in apotheosis for the fashion transfer window which is experiencing one of the greatest moments in its history. Thus, Louise Trotter takes the reins of artistic direction of Bottega Veneta. A seat previously occupied by Matthieu Blazy, but vacated because the latter has just been appointed to Chanel, where he himself takes the position which has caused so much commotion in the fashion world, since the sudden departure of Virginie Viard in last June. “Louise Trotter, Creative Director of Carven, is recognized for her ability to draw inspiration from real life and for her meticulous approach to craftsmanship,” reads a press release sent by Bottega Veneta, announcing in the same time the departure of Matthieu Blazy. The British designer will join the brand in January 2025. “The Maison’s historic legacy of art and innovation is a true source of inspiration, and I look forward to contributing to its future and celebrating its timeless vision “, she declared.

Who is Louise Trotter?
Having worked for Calvin Klein and Gap, Louise Trotter began to make a name for herself in the small fashion world in 2009 when she took over as artistic director of the Joseph brand. She infused it with her minimalist and pragmatic look, which would become the signature of her stylistic approach. In 2018, she was appointed artistic director of Lacoste and became the first woman to occupy this position within the crocodile label. For nearly five years, she contributed significantly to rejuvenating the image of the French brand with her creative and modern vision and became one of the most prominent designers of her generation.

In February 2023, the ICCF group called on her to revive the French house Carven and restore its place of choice in the French and international fashion landscape. The British designer presented her first collection for the brand in October of the same year; a wardrobe that is at once pragmatic, sophisticated and refined where the Carven heritage blends with the chic and easy-going style of Louise Trotter. It was a success and the collection was acclaimed by the specialist press, who now jostled to be in the front row at each fashion show of the Parisian house. The spring-summer 2025 collection, presented during Paris Fashion Week last October, will be her last for Carven, a house that she will have profoundly revitalized thanks to her modern and “less is more” wardrobe inspired by the archives. His first collection for Bottega Veneta will undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated of 2025.
