Minister Yankhoba Diémé’s assurances for a return to normal…

This Wednesday, December 11, 2024, late in the morning, a truck registered DL. 1920 E, which had its skip raised, violently hit the Yoff-Tonghor footbridge, causing significant damage and disrupting traffic. Fortunately, there was no loss of life, but there was one minor injury who was treated by emergency services and was able to return home.

Immediately informed, Mr. Yankoba DIEME, Minister of Infrastructure and Land and Air Transport, informed that he had asked his colleagues to take all measures to ensure the safety of populations and motorists. It is in this context that AGEROUTE SENEGAL went to the site to observe the damage caused and take the necessary measures.

Thus AGEROUTE SENEGAL, for security reasons, has decided to proceed, without further delay, with the removal of the Yoff-Tonghor footbridge on the night of Wednesday 11 to Thursday 12 December 2024, informs a press release received by Senego.

Minister Yankoba DIEME notes, to regret it, “that this type of incident caused on bridges by large aircraft is starting to become recurrent. And the main cause is non-compliance with safety and driving rules. »

While calling on drivers and users to demonstrate responsibility and good citizenship regarding the preservation of infrastructure and compliance with the rules of conduct, the Minister of Infrastructure and Land and Air Transport recalls “that the conclusions resulting from the recent General Meeting of Public Transport insisted on zero tolerance regarding the application of sanctions to violators of the rules of the highway code. Consequently, those who do not respect clearance heights and other perpetrators of various damage to infrastructure are exposed to the sanctions provided for by law. »

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Land and Air Transport expresses its regrets to the populations and various users for the inconvenience caused by this incident and informs that L’AGEROUTE SENEGAL is working hard to return to normal as soon as possible.
