The fire occurred this Monday, December 9 around 5:30 p.m. near Lac des Buissonnades in Oraison. The 600 square meter building was gutted.
Since then, the five companies working on the premises have had to find solutions to be able to continue their activities. This Wednesday, December 11, several meetings took place with the mayor, experts, tenants and owners.
Several injured
“I saw smoke coming out of the room, we didn't see any flame. I went inside, because I knew there was a gas cylinder inside, but I couldn't breathe anymore. Then, the fire started and the firefighters arrived”, tells BFM DICI, the owner, Pierre Sube.
A building which belonged to his father and which dates from 1965. While Pierre Sube recounts the scene to the experts who note all the details, he mentions a technical problem of the firefighters who had to take water from his sister's swimming pool and in the lake.
This Tuesday, December 10, the owner spent the day in hospital with one of the craftsmen who suffered a sprain while trying to put out the fire. Another was in Sisteron hospital due to smoke inhalation.
“There is my son-in-law and friends, to whom we are very close and who we care about,” specifies BFM DICI, Pierre Sube.
“It’s the start of a marathon”
During this morning, experts deployed a drone above the building and took a tour of the premises. “We’re starting the marathon. Because I admit that it’s the first time that this has happened to me, I’m not used to it,” the owner confides to BFM DICI.
In this building, five companies worked on the premises. Two for framing, one for stripping, a mason who stored his equipment and a fairground who sells chickens.
Everyone emphasizes the speed of the mayor, who summoned them twice to quickly find them another premises. “We hope it’s quite close,” told BFM DICI, one of the craftsmen, who has already received numerous messages of solidarity.

“They lost everything”, confides to BFM DICI, the owner, very touched by this disaster which concerns a building in his family for many years.
After this fire, the workers would need wooden pallets, panels to protect the walls, materials, wood, and the jail to be able to resume their activity.
“We don’t need much to make very useful things,” concludes one of the carpenters, with BFM DICI.
