As part of the “ History Thursdays », cycle of meetings of authors and specialists organized at Departmental domain of Pierresvives in Montpellier, the Departmental Archives offer this December 12, 2024, a conference of Philippe Martel on the relationships between Frédéric Mistral and Félibrige. A second episode, which arrives after the first: “Sustainability of the Mistralian work”.
Committed to the langue d’oc
Frédéric Mistral is not only the poet, the prose writer and the lexicographer who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. He is also one of the founders of Félibrige, first collective movement working at the promotion of the langue d’oc. He was also one of its main leaders throughout his life. Suffice to say that this dimension is an integral part of his work. But in fact, So what exactly is Félibrige?
Focus on the speaker: Philippe Martelprofessor emeritus at Paul-Valéry-Montpellier III University, is a specialist in the history of Occitania. He notably published “The felibres and their times. Oc Renaissance and opinion (1850-1914)” (Presses universitaire de Bordeaux, 2010). A well of knowledge from which we willingly drink.
