This Wednesday, December 11, around 10:30 a.m., a fire broke out on the roof of the Saints-François church in Montpellier. The Hérault prefecture informs that the fire is no longer progressing.
Two hours after the fire broke out, firefighters were still on site. The fire broke out during waterproofing work in the church located on boulevard de Strasbourg. Major work by the SDIS 34 teams continues to bring the fire under control, after the extinction of hot spots located under the zinc roof.
No injuries to report
10 people were evacuatedno injuries were reported. Nearly 80 firefighters are involved in this disaster. The fire did not spread to neighboring buildings. The organ, art objects and archives were saved. There statue of the virgin was extracted and secured. A security perimeter has been set up.
