Stationed until Thursday, December 12, at the Blue Ribbon in Saint-Nazaire, the ambulance machine-gunned in Ukraine in 2022, calls out to the people of Nazaire.
To raise awareness, Droujba, the cultural association for Franco-Ukrainian friendship based in Saint-Nazaire, is taking the initiative of creating a shocking image, a concrete testimony: an ambulance machine-gunned by the Russian army, in the Kharkiv region, Ukraine, in defiance of the Geneva Convention.
Fund ambulances and boost morale among Ukrainians
The “Ukraine is calling” operation was awarded the European Citizen's Prize in 2023 by the European Parliament. The initiative travels across Europe and stops in 40 cities in France. It aims to raise funds to finance the purchase of 112 ambulances for Ukraine.
“This gives morale to the Ukrainian refugees welcomed in the Saint-Nazaire basin”underlines Jean-François Maho, vice-president of Droujba, the cultural association for Franco-Ukrainian friendship, created two weeks after the start of the war in Ukraine, in March 2022. “The Ukrainian women welcomed by Droujba are hypermotivated. They baked a lot of cakes. The sale supplements the donations collected for the purchase of ambulances,” continues Jean-François Maho.
Thursday December 12the ambulance is on display at the Blue Ribbon shopping center, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. This Thursday, the Kobza group will host a concert and readings.
