The barricaded town hall

Behind the glass, Gaëtan Caudron, 28, is talkative, very angry and quite paranoid. For two years, he has been “harassed”, a victim of the mayor of Aigre, his friends, his relatives, even the police. He wrote it on Facebook, shouted it on TikTok. He called the mayor all the names, threatened him with the worst. He called the town hall and found the secretary. “I don’t give a damn. He stole my car, he took everything from me. Apéro 16 you know. You tell Combaud that he brings me money and my car.” The secretary and the assistant became so frightened that they barricaded themselves. It was last August.

In Aigre, since September 2022, war has been declared. On the night of the 8th to the 9th, the mayor enforced his decree. He had the Apéro 16 vehicle removed, the one which allowed Gaëtan Caudron to deliver the aperitif to the homes of residents in the area. But the company's headquarters apartment was nestled in a small alley. Parked in the middle of the road, the vehicle prevented the garbage truck from passing. The last time the mayor came by with the police, he dismissed them with a loud “fuck you”. Then everything went to hell.

On the networks Gaëtan let loose. He began to develop a sort of persecution syndrome, seeing the mayor's agents everywhere. “He attacked my relatives, he sent people to him.” The president believes that this is not an attitude to adopt, he corrects: “it is a cry of despair”. The whole world blames him. He has already filed a complaint against the police, against the gendarmes, and is seeking to file a complaint against the town hall. Moreover, the mayor's order was illegal and had not been posted.

“You tell Combaud that he brings me money and my car.”

And Gaëtan Gaudron, who barely acknowledges that he has said everything he is accused of, reminds us that he did not carry out his threats. He is not violent and the conviction on his record which mentions violence was just “a grocer who wanted to poke my eyes out”. The psychological expert says “psychopathic personality disorders, inability to respect the rules of life in society, which projects its faults onto others”. He still says superficial emotions, lack of remorse, weak control of behavior.

How will it end?

“How is this going to end?” » This is the key question asked by Thomas Calmels, the mayor's lawyer, worried. She is also the one who challenged Stéphanie Aouine, the prosecutor, who was not reassured by Gaëtan Caudron's behavior at the hearing. “I had hope that we would move it forward.” So for the outrages and threats, she requested twelve months in prison including six probationary suspension, treatment, a ban on contact and appearing in Aigre.

Annaëlle Raballand, the defendant's lawyer, found that it was excessive for her client “who feels crushed by the town hall. it is his perception of the facts. But he recognizes that his words exceeded his thoughts. Gaëtan Caudron ended up conceding. “That's the wrong way to speak, I apologize. I expressed my anger.”

The court followed the prosecutor's requisitions. Gaëtan Gaudron was worried. “Can it be arranged? »
