Princess Madeleine wears the Connaught tiara and a green dress with sequins and rhinestones
To honor the event, Princess Madeleine wore a magnificent tiara. The Connaught diamond tiara is both elegant and fine, yet has prestige in its size. This tiara is a gift that Princess Margaret of the United Kingdom received from her parents in 1905. Her father was Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, son of Queen Victoria. At this time, the Duke of Connaught was the brother of King Edward VII and would become Governor General of Canada. The Duke of Connaught purchased this tiara in 1904 from the jeweler E. Wolff and Co for his daughter, on the occasion of her marriage to Crown Prince Gustavus Adolphe of Sweden. The tiara has remained with the royal family ever since. The tiara is very frequently worn by the princesses of the family. Princess Christina, sister of King Carl XVI Gustaf, for example, wore it for her wedding in 1974 to Tord Magnuson.
