Morgane found in Coutances: the mayor of the Normandy town takes two shock measures

It is a disappearance with a positive outcome. Since November 25, Morgane, aged 13, had given no sign of life. The teenager had disappeared from the family home in Pabu near Guingamp, in Côtes-d'Armor and never returned. The case took a new turn this Tuesday, December 10 when she was found alive. Quickly, Jean-Dominique Bourdin, the mayor of Coutances, wanted to make two radical decisions. “The FJT will be temporarily closed to outsiders to protect residents and agents, and avoid the influx of curious people,” he first said.

The FJT, a home for young workers, is where Morgane was found. So, the goal will be to protect the people who are there but also who work there. Another decision was taken: that of creating a psychological support unit.
She's going to be be set up for agents and an information meeting with a psychologist will be organized for residents,” said Jean-Dominique Bourdin. The city's mayor is aware that this unusual event can be a source of stress for residents.

Disappearance of Morgane: an event with a happy ending

Morgane's relatives and friends were very worried. For two weeks, the teenager gave no signs of life and the worst was imagined. So, finding her at the FJT was positive for the investigation.
If the city's mayor has made the decision to limit access for the moment, he says it is not because of the admission protocol. “They are relevant and respected, and there is no reason to review them at the moment,” he said. In fact, the sole aim is to “filter entries more precisely, to prevent agents and residents from being bothered by people who have nothing to do with the FJT”, he continued.

Concerning Morgane, it was at the end of the morning that she was found, safe and sound, in the Manche, in Coutances. It was the soldiers from the research section who realized that she was in a home for young workers in the city. The person who hosted him was a young man of 21 years old and who was immediately taken into police custody on charges of arrest, kidnapping, sequestration of a minor under 15 years old. According to initial information, he was known to the police and registered in the register of perpetrators of sexual or violent offenses (FIJAIS).

Morgane: but how is the young woman?

It was the day after an argument with her parents that Morgane left the family home. The teenager had left without her phone to go to school. However, she never arrived at her destination, causing her parents to worry. A disappearance was quickly reported and significant resources were put in place. Dog squad, helicopter, patrols… everything had been done, in vain. It was only this Tuesday, December 1 that she was found “in good health and free to move”.
