Praia Clube and Minas faced each other on Tuesday (December 10) in Uberlândia, in the Women’s Superliga.

The lead in the Women’s Volleyball Superliga remains in Uberlândia. On Tuesday, Praia beat Minas 3-2 in a direct clash at the City Training Center (UTC) on matchday 11. The scores of the sets which allowed the home team to take the lead in the ranking were 15/25, 25/21, 16/25, 25/23, and 15/12.

Now Praia has 26 points and is the only leader in the Women’s Superliga. Minas, on the other hand, falls to second place with 25 points. Both teams have played 11 matches in the competition.

Praia and Minas turn their attention to the World Championship

After their duel in the Superliga, Praia and Minas will focus their attention on the Club World Championship, which will take place in China.

The Uberlândia team will make its debut in the competition next Tuesday (December 17) against Conegliano from Italy, starting at 1:30 a.m. (Brasilia time).

Meanwhile, the Belo Horizonte team will play the day before, Monday (December 16), against the Italians Vero Vôlei Milan at 10 p.m. (Brasilia time).

The match between Praia and Minas in the Superliga

Entertainer Marcos Miranda lined up Praia with Macris, Nia Reed, Payton Caffrey, Sofya Kuznetsova, Adenízia, Carol Gattaz, and Natinho. Nicola Negro composed Minas with Jenna Gray, Kisy Nascimento, Celeste Plak, Yonkaira Peña, Thaisa Daher, Kelly Gomes, and Kika Motta.

The start of the match favored the Belo Horizonte team, which excelled in the blocks and took advantage of the opponents’ receiving errors. Praia showed some signs of improvement during the set, but Minas continued to dominate and won the set 25-15.

With better defense from Praia and fewer errors, the second set was more balanced. The two teams traded points, and the home team had the support of their fans to win it 25-21.

The third set resembled the first: a dominant start for Minas, with Praia improving as the set progressed. However, once again, the mistakes of the Uberlândia team proved costly, and the Belo Horizontinas regained the advantage: 25-16.

The fourth and final set reflected the balance seen in previous meetings between the rivals. The home team started strong, taking a 6-1 advantage. Minas showed resilience, took the lead and was ahead at 20-18. Just when it looked like the match would end there, Praia fought back to win 25-23.

The start of the tie-break for the Minas players was explosive, with the visitors quickly taking a 6-1 lead. Praia quickly recovered and increased the difficulty for her opponents in the final set. Carried by its vibrant center Adenízia, the Uberlândia team completed the comeback and secured the victory: 15-12.
