Laval Rocket | Injury Update

The Rocket (15-6-2) will resume action tomorrow evening, at Place Bell, in a duel against the Rochester Americans (12-8-3). Pascal Vincent’s squad could soon count on reinforcements in attack, while Filip Mesar’s state of health continues to progress towards a return to play. In the next few lines, we will discuss the various news in terms of injuries at the Laval Rocket.

Mesar reunites with his teammates

The 1st round pick, 26th overall, in the 2022 draft is nearing a return to action as he practiced without contact with his teammates. According to journalist Vincent Demuy, analysis of the Rocket’s matches at BPM Sports, the young Slovakian, however, left training a little before his teammates. The initial timetable for Mesar’s injury estimated an absence until at least December 23. In 5 games with the Rocket this season, Mesar has collected 1 goal and 4 assists with a differential of +3.

Jakub Dobes is evaluated daily

The 23-year-old goalkeeper suffered a lower body injury last Friday during the first game of the doubleheader against the Toronto Marlies. His condition requires daily assessment, a context similar to his injury suffered at the start of the season. Let’s hope it’s not a recurring injury in his case, such as a groin injury. At this stage of the season, there is no point in taking the risk of making the situation worse, especially considering the young goalkeeper’s style, which relies heavily on explosion and athleticism.

Arseneau and Barré-Boulet are conspicuous by their absence

The two Quebec attackers were absent from the Rocket’s training session this morning, for very different reasons. Vincent Arseneau missed his team’s last two practices due to illness. For his part, Alex Barré-Boulet was absent for personal reasons, let’s hope it wasn’t anything too trying for the young veteran.

Summary of injuries

  • David Reinbacher: Knee, 5-6 months of absence (Feb 18 – March 18)
  • Filip Mesar: Upper body, 8-10 weeks out (Dec 23 – Jan 6)
  • Brandon Gignac: Lower body, 4-6 weeks (Dec 23 – Jan 6)
  • Jakub Dobes: Lower Body, Daily Assessment (as of Dec 8)
