Last Friday, around 9:30 p.m., Jean-Luc Sanhet, 66, suddenly saw the work of a lifetime goes up in smoke. His three tractors were set on fire, along with two other agricultural machines.
“The three vehicles were well separated on three corners of my father's land” explains Jérémy, his only son, who does not work on the farm but who was also very affected by this undoubtedly gratuitous gesture. “The fires started almost every time from the headquarters and we even saw logs being thrown into the cabins to fuel the fire.”
So why? And above all who? Jérémy doesn't see who can blame this uneventful farmer.
“Whether it's me or my father, we don't understand how we can get to this point. I don't see what he could have done that justifies such violence. It's his life's work. he has there, it's not much. And there, we took everything from him. We can have stories with people, we've all experienced that, but I don't understand that.
In the space of one evening, Jean-Luc lost almost everything.
“I'm 37 years old and I've never seen my father like that. He lost everything, he lost his machines, he can no longer work. They are very old machines. They were around forty years old, a lot too old to be reimbursed So fire insurance, unfortunately, would not have worked.
Jérémy and his wife decided to launch an online prize pool to help their father and father-in-law.
“The financial loss amounts to approximately €15,000. If it is necessary to supplement, I will try to supplement as much as possible, but I know that on my own I will not be able to do it. If there are people who want us help, at least so that he can buy the big tractor, the one he uses every day and which is now unusable. But we will understand very well if there are people who cannot help us. easy for anyone in this moment.”
