Faced with numerous absences, the reception of PSV Eindhoven, this Tuesday, in the Champions League, is “certainly the most complicated match” that coach Eric Roy has had to prepare, he admitted the day before in conference press.
It is “certainly the most complicated match. Already, the Lille match (Friday in the championship, Editor’s note) was complicated because we had six injured. There, we have seven players who cannot participate with the suspension of Ludovic Ajorque. So, it’s true that for a club like ours, with our squad, it’s really complicated.”lamented the coach.
Accustomed to anticipating the substitutions he intends to make even before kick-off, Roy will have to improvise once again.
“You can plan things when you have solutions and visibility on your workforce. Today, I have none. We are in a tight flow, we live a little from day to day, I was going to say almost hourly per hour”he noted.
Particularly weakened on the defensive level, Brest has every reason to fear the Dutch who are the team that scores the most goals in Europe.
“It’s a very good team which has great confidence. It’s a team which largely dominates its championship (…) We know that it’s a very strong team, with a lot of quality, whether in the middle or in front”emphasized Roy.
“It will be interesting to see between a team which, defensively, has been struggling lately and a team which is very strong offensively if we can find the keys”he continued.
For him, the PSV is an adversary “in the same vein as Leverkusen” with whom Brest had managed to draw (1-1) at the end of October, a result for which the Finistériens would certainly sign immediately.
With all the absences, “We have a little less arguments about tomorrow’s match, but I am still counting on the state of mind of my players, on the group, on this strength and this cohesion to be able to defeat this team of the PSV”continued Roy.
“And when I say check, it’s not just defending well, it’s also being able to attack, to give them problems, maybe to force them to defend more than they’re used to to do so, especially in their championship, where they are largely dominant”he clarified.
