It's the big day for Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle and MachineGames as it marks the official launch of the game for all players, as well as the availability of the game in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. As expected, the first Indiana Jones update is available and it brings a lot of new features.
List of new features and fixes for the first update of Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle
New features
- Added full ray tracing (path tracing) for compatible Nvidia graphics cards. A minimum video memory of 12 GB is required to use this feature. We are also working on support for AMD FSR, which will be available in a future update.
General
- Fixed a rare issue where the game crashed while saving.
- Fixed an issue where you would temporarily lose the right to use the Pre-Order/Premium outfit.
- Fix to make your photos appear faster when reviewing them in the log.
Gameplay
- Fixed an occasional animation issue when the rebreather is equipped immediately after jumping into the water.
- Fixed an issue temporarily preventing you from interacting with objects after trying to poke an enemy with the revolver when stamina is depleted.
- Fixed an issue where punches could sometimes be blocked while looking at a nearby pick-up item.
- Fixed an issue where it was sometimes impossible to change disguises after exiting Sukhothai Village via a fast travel panel.
- Fixed an issue in several places where the whip could suddenly detach while Indy is swinging on it.
- Fixed an issue where Indy's legs would sometimes suddenly lock while crossing the gap on the bridge in Nepal.
- Fixed preventing enemies from ignoring Indy's presence when you charge a checkpoint very close to soldiers guarding the entrance to a restricted area.
- Fixed an issue where Gina would sometimes not appear near the docked boat when she should be there.
- Fixed an issue where the camera would shake unexpectedly when scorpions kill you near the end of the Giza level.
- Fixed an issue causing the first shot of a temporary firearm to be silent.
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused enemies to react slowly when you steal valuable items from them.
- Fixed an issue with character animation when loading a checkpoint after using a zipline while the game was saving.
- Fixed an issue where the whip could sometimes not be used if you crack it while the game is saving, before loading that save.
- Fixed an issue where you would sometimes get stuck in the recovery phase of “Lucky Hat”.
Interface
- Added the “Restore Default” option to the Options menu.
- Fixed an issue sometimes causing the wrong item to be displayed in the Quick Equip menu when scrolling through it quickly.
- Added to the game manual an explanation of the blue briefcase icon indicating places on the map where it is possible to return.
- Fix preventing place names on the map and names of items to photograph from overlapping.
- Fixed an issue with text intermittently flashing during credits.
- Fix to ensure that the adventure book list updates immediately after unlocking a new book. Graphics
- Fixed the issue of bottles being too blurry when traveling with a bottle equipped.
- Fixed an issue with Indy's right arm shrinking above the wrist with outfits exposing the arms.
- Fixed an issue with stuttering in some cutscenes.
- Fix to make Indy's whip movements more natural when clipped to his belt.

- Fix to ensure that several items to photograph are still available when you return to a level or when you have completed certain parts of the game.
- Fix to ensure that multiple Journal Notes can still be obtained when returning to a level or completing certain parts of the game.
- Fix to ensure that several adventure books are displayed correctly on the map after purchasing information booklets.
- Fixed preventing players from getting stuck when dropping Giuseppe's key instead of putting it inside the bag, in “Savage is in Trouble.”
- Fixed a rare issue sometimes preventing Gina from going to the open door after the fire trap in the Trial of the Silver Path mission in Vatican.
- Fixed a rare issue where Gina could sometimes be unable to activate levers or get stuck while going to a freight elevator at Wat Si Sawai in Sukhothai.
- Fixed an issue where Gina could sometimes be unable to help open the door to the Game Room in Sukhothai Ziggurat.
- Fixed an issue where Gina would sometimes be unable to use jump or climb assists when exiting combat.
- Fixed an issue where parts of the Vatican Fountain puzzle continue to move slowly, which may prevent the puzzle from being solved after a while.
- Fixed an issue where the quest objective “Finish Forging the Golden Key” could sometimes be prevented from being completed in the Vatican Journal.
- Fixed an issue where players could sometimes be unable to collect all the gold if they died shortly after opening the chest in Sukhothai HQ.
- Fixed an issue where doors in caves would lock after restarting at a checkpoint while infiltrating the Giza Nazi compound.
- Fixed an issue preventing players from picking up an important book from Voss' office in the Giza Nazi Compound.
- Fixed an issue where Antonio or Ventura would sometimes be stuck in a huddled position when in Antonio's office in the Vatican. PC version fixes
- Improved performance in large levels of the game if you use a graphics card with 8 GB of video memory.
- Fixed an issue where you could sometimes not open the inventory using Alt-Tab.
- Fix to ensure that the “Redo” option works correctly when changing video modes.
- Fixed an issue with torch flames or lighter flickering when the game uses a high refresh rate.
- Fixed an issue rendering torch flames and sand flow in the Peru level with AMD graphics cards.
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused a moire effect on white walls when enabling HDR and DLSS at the same time.
- Fixed an issue where black artifacts would occasionally appear in Indy's eye during cutscenes in Peru Cave.
- Fixed an issue where black squares would intermittently appear on screen when using render scales on certain resolutions with AMD graphics cards.
- Fix to ensure successful export of your photos from Steam Cloud saves if you decide to move to the Xbox cloud.
- Note: Support for AMD FSR will be included in a future update.
Additionally, Bethesda says it is aware that some players may experience reduced performance if they launch the game with DLSS enabled and is currently investigating the matter. Players who encounter this problem can try the following:
- Access the Options menu after loading the game
- Select Graphics Options
- Switching from DLSS to TAA
- Return to DLSS and exit the menu. Performance should return to normal soon after.
