A house was heavily damaged by an explosion on the night of Saturday December 7 to Sunday December 8, in the town of Olmeto.

The events occurred in the housing estate, around 1 a.m.

“The bomb disposal team found a gas cylinder near the house, which could explain the phenomenon of explosion of the house due to saturation of the air in the house during the fire”indicates prosecutor Nicolas Septe in a press release.

No casualties have been reported, according to the Corsica-du-Sud fire and rescue service (Sis 2A). The owners of the house are “unknown to the police, it appears to be a Corsican couple who have always lived there”specifies the prosecutor.

Present in an adjoining home at the time of the events, they say “very shocked” and in “incomprehension”specifying that the house in question “had not been built for the purposes of real estate speculation” but to welcome members of their family.

Several inscriptions were found on the facade of the villa, notably “FLNC”, “Corsican language, living language” or even “Fora”. For the moment, no demands have been made by the underground movement.

An investigation was opened by the Ajaccio public prosecutor's office for “fire damage”. She was entrusted to the Sartène research brigade as well as to the Corsica research section.

Advised, the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (Pnat) took charge of the investigation this Sunday late in the morning.
