Shawn Carter, aka Jay-Z, and Sean “Diddy” Combs, two major figures in hip-hop and entrepreneurship, face serious charges. A complaint filed Sunday alleges they raped a 13-year-old girl at a private party after the 2000 MTV Video Awards.

The accuser, identified anonymously as “Jane Doe,” recounts a series of events that allegedly led her to that party. Originally filed in October to target only Sean Combs, the complaint was amended to include Carter as a co-defendant.

The facts alleged in the complaint
According to legal documents, “Jane Doe” went to Radio City Music Hall, the venue for the MTV Video Music Awards, even though she did not have a ticket. While attempting to gain access to the event, she allegedly encountered a limo driver who introduced himself as working for Combs. He allegedly suggested that she come to a private party after the ceremony.

Later in the evening, the same driver allegedly took her to a house in a wealthy neighborhood, where she had to sign a document presented as a confidentiality clause before entering. Inside, she describes a celebrity party, where drugs were flowing freely.

She said she accepted a drink, after which she felt dizzy and decided to rest in a room. This is where, according to him, Combs and Carter entered. Combs reportedly said, “You’re ready to party!” » before Carter raped her, followed by Combs. An unidentified famous woman is said to have witnessed the scene.

After the attack, “Jane Doe” claims she fled the scene and contacted her father from a gas station.

A growing file
This new complaint comes in an already tense context for Sean Combs. Indicted in September for sex trafficking and racketeering, he is currently detained in New York awaiting his trial scheduled for May. Prosecutors are also considering filing additional charges.

For Jay-Z, this is the first time he has been publicly accused in a case of this nature. Before his name was added to the complaint, he reportedly received a request for mediation from the plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee. Carter responded by suing the accuser’s lawyers, according to court filings.
