West Ham United striker Michail Antonio underwent successful surgery today (December 8) following a serious car accident on Saturday, the club have confirmed.
This announcement follows the broadcast on social networks of images showing a seriously damaged Ferrari, believed to have been the vehicle involved in the accident.
A club statement read: “West Ham United can confirm that Michail Antonio has undergone an operation on a broken lower limb sustained during a traffic incident on Saturday afternoon. He will be closely monitored in hospital in the coming days. come.

On Saturday, the Premier League club had confirmed that Antonio had been involved in a traffic incident, calling for “thoughts and prayers” to be directed to the Jamaica international as he received treatment in hospital, as reported by the ‘Express.

Reports on social media showed extensive damage to the Ferrari Antonio was driving at the time, indicating that the front of the vehicle was completely destroyed.
Antonio, 34, was taken to a central London hospital after the single-car crash near Theydon Bois, Essex. Shortly afterwards, the Hammers announced that he was conscious and stable, although the exact nature of his injuries was not confirmed.
The statement continued: “We can confirm that Michail Antonio is currently stable following the road accident in Essex. He is awake, communicating and is under strict observation in a central London hospital.
“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the club are with Michail, his family and friends. No further comment will be made this evening, but a further update will follow in due course.”
Debbie, Antonio’s ex-wife and mother of his four children, traveled hundreds of miles from Manchester to be by his side in hospital. Reports from the Telegraph suggest he may have suffered a broken leg in the collision.
Firefighters had to extricate Antonio from the debris because he was trapped in the vehicle for more than 45 minutes. Witnesses described the scene, saying emergency services had to cut him up to free him from the car.
A witness told The Sun: “Several other cars had stopped, and passers-by were calling emergency services. The conditions were horrendous – rain, wind and slippery roads. It appeared to be a road accident. only car; the car had lost control I didn’t realize until later who he was. I hope he’s okay.”
Another witness noted: “The right side of the car was badly damaged, with the right front wheel and driver’s door missing. I saw the firefighters working to cut out parts of the vehicle to reach it.”
For now, West Ham’s next Premier League match against Wolves on Monday is scheduled, with Antonio remaining in hospital as he recovers from the harrowing incident.
