Top start for four days of tournament at the Palais des Sports in Caen! The Caen Tennis Open started this Sunday to a sold-out crowd. 16,000 spectators are expected over the four days. For the first day, the first two matches were a little disappointing for the Norman public.
In women, Alice Robbe lost in two sets against the Belgian Élise Mertens. La Manchoise, licensed in Mondevilleparticipated for the second time in the Caen Open, but it is therefore the end of the course after these quarter-finals. On the men’s side, Adrien Gobat won in straight sets against Jules Marie. He will therefore play tomorrow against Alexandre Müller.
“Frustrated and disappointed”
After the match, Caen player Jules Marie expressed his disappointment: “I didn’t play my best, it’s a shame. I’m frustrated and disappointed.” It was particularly on services that it was difficult: “I didn’t serve very well in the match, and at this level, you have to serve really well to hope to do something.”
