Aptera is one of the most promising companies in solar cars. Having already raised $135 million from 19,000 investors, the largest crowdfunding in history, the company still needs money. The firm is asking for $60 million to be able to start production of its model by the end of 2025.
Never shy about talking about its progress and obstacles, Aptera recently said that despite a historic fundraising round, it still lacks “ An additional $60 million » to begin production of its solar car. The company has just reopened its crowdfunding program, giving those who believe in solar electric vehicles the opportunity to invest.
Aptera still seeks $60 million
Before relying again on this method of crowdfunding, Aptera tried to partner with the investment company US Capital Global. But the company only managed to sell $700,000 worth of “ billets convertibles », or barely 1.2% of the targeted amount. Sandy Munro, co-CEO of Aptera, therefore decided to relaunch crowdfunding by lowering the minimum amount to reach as many people as possible.

Initially set at $50,000, the entry ticket was lowered to $1,000. On the American company’s website, we can read that “ our vision is clear, we want a world where every journey is powered by the sun. This new funding allows everyone, people like you, to be part of the solution. Through this campaign, you can invest in Aptera’s mission ».
The firm adds that “ every dollar invested is a declaration of hope and determination to change the status quo “. In its most generous version, Aptera’s solar car promises up to 1,600 km of autonomy for a price of 44,900 dollars (around 42,700 euros). But as you guessed, its future still depends on the missing $60 million. If the project goes through to the end, it would be a great example of determination.
