Threatened with death, the director of the Baumettes prison, in Marseille, and one of her deputies, were temporarily removed from their duties and are subject to protective measuresindicated Friday to theAFP concordant sources, confirming information of The Marseillaise.
A source close to the matter toldAFP that in addition to the director, the other person targeted by threats is the deputy head of detention at Baumettes.
Prison executives threatened with death
On the night of December 1 to 2, two armed men were arrested by the police, near the home of the manager of the Marseille prison, “after a chase during which the suspects got rid of of a bag containing a category B weapon”, specifies the prosecution this Friday evening.
The detainee at the origin of this intimidation, who is said to be a member of the DZ Mafia, was not content with simple words: he then used social networks, through a video and offered a reward of 120,000 euros to anyone who executes the agents in question.
An investigation opened by the prosecution
An investigation is opened by the Marseille prosecutor’s office.
This targets accusations of death threats against a representative of public authority, as well as a possible criminal association suspected of having planned an assassination. The two people arrested, aged 17 and 21, are currently in pre-trial detention.
