He belonged to the city hall and was used for the maintenance of public swimming pools. A vehicle was voluntarily fireon the night of Wednesday 4 to Thursday 5 December 2024, Rangueil district, in Toulouse. An action claimed in the wake of a site d'ultragauche.
“An attack on working conditions,” says the mayor
“A vehicle from our community, filled with maintenance equipment, was deliberately burned,” explains Jean-Luc Moudencthe mayor of Toulouse, on X.
Several thousand euros went up in smoke, not counting the cost of replacing the vehicle. It is an attack on the working conditions of our agents and on the public service provided to Toulouse residents.
The mayor announces the color: “In the coming weeks, the maintenance of our swimming pools will, in fact, be more difficult since this vehicle was dedicated to it.” He specifies that he “of course” filed a complaint.
Jean-Luc Moudenc criticizes “a rampage claimed by the extreme left”
“Another rampage claimed by the extreme left »also criticizes Jean-Luc Moudenc. “After the fire of a drill on a metro construction site last May, the extremist militants did it again,” said the elected official, who denounced “unbearable violent and destructive methods.”
“Love Toulouse, attack the Metropolis”, they chant
In a press release where it diverts the name of the municipal majority group “Aimer Toulouse”, the anarcho-libertarian site IAATA, well known locally, has claimed the action from Thursday evening. In an unequivocal message, which begins with a scathing “Love Toulouse, attack the metropolis”, it clearly states: “A vehicle from Toulouse Métropole and a vehicle from Toulouse Town Hall were set on fire within their premises” (the community, however, assures Toulouse News that only one vehicle was set on fire, Editor's note).
If the vehicles of Toulouse communities were targeted, it is obviously to oppose twinning from Toulouse with Tel-Aviv, second city of Israel, which has been running since 1962, but which has been irritating activists of the Palestinian cause for years.
They consider that “the Metropolis […] takes a stand in the war »
“The Metropolis of Toulouse takes a clear stand in the war in progress”, consider these (anonymous) contributors to the anti-authoritarian platform, who thus castigate the “twinning with Tel Aviv”, but also “the welcome with open arms of a NATO base which must be inaugurated from the summer of 2025” (alluding to the future NATO Space Center of Excellence, which will in fact be located in the Pink City, Editor’s note).
“Let’s take the city back from the arms dealers,” they add, before concluding with the slogan « Free Gaza ! »
