A sentence of twenty years of criminal imprisonment required against Bernard Strelezki, tried for murder before the Assize Court

A sentence of twenty years of criminal imprisonment was requested on Friday December 6 by the attorney general against Bernard Strelezki, 69, who is appearing for murder before the Assize Court.

In his submissions, Jean-Cédric Gaux castigated the “stubbornness” of the accused who for three days has been repeating that the death of Ismail Kucuk was an “accident”.

This 42-year-old man was killed by a 7.65 pistol bullet fired at close range, between the eyes, in the parking lot of a restaurant in Mignères, on July 23, 2020.

“For the family, it is very shocking to hear that it is manslaughter when the accused trained, walked around with this weapon and expressed his desire to to kill people. It was not an accident but a deliberate shooting.”

“The Sheriff of Mignères”

For several weeks, a dispute – a sum of 300 euros which had not been paid on an undeclared construction site and a possible car theft to pay in return – had opposed the two men. The accused claimed to have received multiple telephone threats from the victim and lived in fear at the time they crossed paths, the day of the tragedy.

“It's a brutal crime for a banal story, a bullet in the head for a headlock. We all face the anger of people in our daily lives. When we receive threats, it is resolved by a complaint before the gendarmerie”, reprimands the attorney general for whom “the sheriff of Mignères” responded in a totally disproportionate manner that day to a punch, because his pride and his virility were “affected”.

Verdict in the evening

“We have the impression that he is ready to act in the same way today, we feel that he is still angry with Ismail Kucuk. If he had to do it again, he would put a bullet in his head “, estimates Jean-Cédric Gaux, who recommended an injunction for treatment in the event of Bernard Strelezki's conviction.

The floor is now given to the defense lawyer.

The verdict is expected Friday, December 6 in the evening.
