The alert was given around 5 a.m. this Friday, December 6, by a neighbor. After hearing crackling noises, this man living in a terraced house thought they were coming from his attic, but the fire was in fact emanating from the building right next door, located on Chemin des Clous, in La Gresle.
The terraced house saved by the firefighters
When they arrived on the scene, the twenty firefighters from the Cuinzier, Le Cergne and Roanne barracks could only note the complete conflagration of the house, with a surface area of approximately 150 m². With the help of three lances put into action, including one via the large ladder, the fire fighters managed to control the fire and prevent the flames from spreading to the adjoining house. However, the two occupants were evacuated for safety.
In the affected building, unfortunately nothing can be saved. Neither the roof, nor the interior, nor even the two vehicles parked in the garage. Empty of any occupants at the time of the fire, the owner being a soldier who had gone on mission, the house had been under renovation for three years. Work was still being carried out there until Thursday by the owner's father.
-The origin seems difficult to determine
Agents from Enedis and GRDF also went to the site. Just like the Charlieu gendarmes, on duty this night. Given the extent of the damage, it will be difficult for them to determine the exact origin of the disaster.
