Murder of one of the biggest American bosses in the middle of the street in New York: this message written on the bullets that killed him

An assassination in the middle of the street. On December 4, 2024, Brian Thompson, CEO of one of America's largest insurance companies, was killed in the heart of Manhattan. As he was going to enter the Hilton hotel, a hooded man, armed with a weapon with a silencer, shot the manager three times. He then collapsed to the ground. The individual managed to escape.

According to several sources, messages written on the bullets and cartridge cases were found. If for the moment these writings still have to be analyzed, according to our colleagues from the American press, three words would already be readable: “deny”, “depose” et “defend”.

Brian Thompson threatened in the past

According to the New York police, “this was not a random act of violence, on the contrary it appears that the victim was specifically targeted, but at this stage we do not know why”. According to initial findings, the attack would have been “premeditated and planned”. Indeed, Brian Thompson's wife told NBC News that her late husband had already been the subject of “menaces”.

This father of two is described as “a very respected friend”, “a mentor”, “an honest man”, “so humble, kind, cheerful and full of life”. “BT has always fought for employees and members, ensuring everyone understands the importance of compassion and recognition,” writes a former colleague on Facebook.

The testimony of the CEO's wife

For Fox, his wife agreed to testify: “We are devastated to learn of the senseless murder of our beloved Brian. Brian was an incredibly loving, generous and talented man who truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives”she said, filled with emotion.

“Most importantly, Brian was an incredibly loving father to our two sons and we will miss him greatly. We thank you for your wishes and ask that you respect our privacy as our family navigates this difficult time.” The investigation is therefore still ongoing. Police are offering $10,000 to anyone who provides concrete information about the shooter.
