The great story continues for the women’s TFC. After moving into League 2, here they are on the heights of League 1. They are third and will host LOSC this Sunday at the Stadium who are one point behind. The club wants to give more visibility to the women's team, once again this Sunday.
43,254 spectators is the current attendance record for a women's football match in France. It dates back to 2022 during a meeting at the Parc des Princes where PSG hosted OL.
Sunday December 8, 2024, the Stadium will be full but we should not beat this record. The women coached by Antoine Gérard will receive a huge piece: LOSC, former resident of Ligue 1 and who intends to get back there.
With their good start to the season, captain Lou Jumère's protégés have an appetite. At training this week, media interest was growing. “I must have been at a high level for around ten years, having made D1 and everything. This is the first time I've seen so many microphones in front of me, recognizes Tatiana Solanet. It's nice. We have recognition and that’s nice.” Voted best player in Ligue 2 last year, she joined the Violets to bring her experience.
For this match against LOSC, the leaders did things in a big way. The Stadium will be almost in normal mode. “The tribune Southern Honor is complete. We opened part of the Revault stands and part of Taton. The presidential box is activated, not in the same place but opposite, with institutional guests and partners. There are already more than 12,000 reservations.”
-It must be said that the match is free and that spectators will be able to enjoy pre-match entertainment in the fan zone.
Having moved up to the 3rd division this season, the TFC women did not procrastinate. They already resisted OM at the end of September 1-1, precisely at the Stadium, after the boys' TFC-Lyon match. They have 4 victories and 2 draws for only 2 defeats on the first and last day. With 11 points, they are one point ahead of their opponent of the day: LOSC.
No particular pressure for captain Lou Jumère. “Ticketing is free. We don't really know who will come. There is the uncertainty of the weather. In any case we hope that there will be as many people as possible. It's a great occasion. Quite excited and We can’t wait to play.”
A crowd which will be a significant change from the 100 to 300 people who usually follow them on a side field of the Stadium.
TFC and its president Damien Comolli want to grow this team. “It’s been 4 years since Damien Comolli took over the presidencydeclares coach Antoine Gérard at the club since 2015. He has always expressed his desire to see the women's project grow. We climbed the stages gradually. The club supports the progress of the women's section. We have a good, healthy group, made up of good people. I hope they continue to show this image.”
It has a young group, from the training center. 6-7 players are on full-time professional contracts, 8 part-time. Most of them pursue rather brilliant studies: medicine, physiotherapy, or even engineering at INSA.
The staff will support them throughout the season and during this match to resist the pressure. Reservations are important but attendance will depend on the weather. Five matches are scheduled at the Stadium this season.
