French rugby players Oscar Jegou et Hugo Auradou must be presented to the Argentine justice system at Mendoza (west) Thursday July 11, 2024, where they are accused of having raped in their hotel on Saturday July 6, a young woman who, according to her lawyer, suffered “terrible” violence.

Both players discuss consensual sexual relations

Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou have for their part “confirmed having had sexual relations with the young woman during the night but (…) firmly denied any form of violence”, according to a press release from the French Rugby Federation (FFR) published on Tuesday.

These sexual relations were “consensual”, the lawyer of the two rugby players, Rafael Cuneo Libarona, insisted on Wednesday in Mendoza.

The alleged attack took place on the night of Saturday to Sunday at the Diplomatic Hotel in Mendoza, where French players and staff were staying, after the victory (28-13) of the French XV against the Argentinians.

Police sources told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity, that the players had met the alleged victim in a bar. They allegedly consumed alcohol together, then the complainant, who was “dizzy”, was taken to their hotel.
