ISMER-UQAR: fire at the aquaculture station

A fire caused significant damage last night to the ISMER-UQAR Aquaculture Station located near the Pointe-au-Père Maritime Historic Site in Rimouski.

The building was saved, but the smoke and water caused major damage, especially in the pool area.

A contractor specializing in repairs and cleaning was working on site Thursday on Marconi Street.

“Luckily, no one was injured. We lost fish and a lot of specialized equipment. We are in the expert assessments today, but we already know that there will be significant damage to be regularized at the aquaculture station,” commented the director of Services to the student community at UQAR, Jean-François Ouellet.
