The world pétanque championships are launched at the Zénith in Dijon. 48 nations will compete until Sunday December 7. Go Blues!
« We had 3,600 places per day to sell, they were gone in a few hours! » Clément Meneghin, communications manager for the French Federation of Pétanque and Provencal Games, enjoys it. At 2 p.m. sharp, this Thursday, December 5, the Zénith de Dijon will be sold out for the opening ceremony of the world pétanque championships.
Live on YouTube and on La Chaîne l’Équipe
Until Sunday, 48 nations will compete. Two titles are at stake: men's triples and precision shooting. On the French side, Philippe Suchaud, Dylan Rocher, Henri Lacroix and Jean Feltain will try to recover the world champion title, lost last year against Thailand, in Benin. Dylan Rocher will also compete in the precision shooting event.
Perhaps you will be at the edge of the thirty or so courses laid out in (and outside) the Zénith? If you don't have this chance, the Fédé has created a YouTube channel dedicated to the event (see live at the top of the article). You can also follow the adventures of the four French musketeers on television on La Chaîne l'Équipe (Canal 21 of TNT).
-2,000 licensees in Côte-d’Or
Queen of the discipline, France has 29 victories since the creation of the triplets world championships. For its part, the Côte-d'Or Committee hopes to ride this event and attract new licensees (editor's note, there are a little more than 2,000 at the time of writing these lines). Finally, the Côte-d'Or Handi-Pétanque Association takes advantage of the World Cups and the dynamics of the Paris Olympics to introduce you to boccia. Until December 20, you can participate in free workshops at the Boivin gymnasium on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
