The SAVS is a place of accommodation and support towards the autonomy of people in
disability situation located in Vendée in La Tardière in the new town of Terval. It has 2 houses each including 4 studios and collective premises.
In a press release, the management of the Vendée Hospital Center based in La-Roche-sur-Yon specifies that a fire had broken out “this Thursday, December 5 around 3:40 a.m. in one of the service's accommodations before spreading. A security, fire and rescue system was deployed and a security perimeter was set up very quickly.”
The SAVS currently accommodates seven tenants. Still according to the press release, “the responsiveness of the on-call staff made it possible to bring 6 tenants to safety. A lifeless body was found by emergency services in one of the burned accommodations. This could be that of the 7th tenant.”
The tenants were transported to the Châtaigneraie hospital center to be received there. They
will be relocated as of this Thursday evening to another residence in the hospital center. A Medical-Psychological Emergency Unit has been launched to support the tenants, their
families and hospital staff.
An investigation is underway to determine the causes of the fire.
