The first feature film by Ariane Louis-Seize notably stood out in the categories of best editing, best sound, best artistic direction and best visual effects.

This dramatic comedy largely dominated the gala nominations, with a total of 22, notably in the prestigious categories of best film and best direction.

These awards will be presented during the Gala Québec Cinéma this Sunday.

Among other films that stood out, Soloby Sophie Dupuis, who received the awards for best makeup and best costumes, and the very popular Our Sisters-in-Lawwhich won trophies for best hairstyle and best original music.

Unsurprisingly, the film Simple like Sylvain was rewarded in the category of the film with the most success outside Quebec. Director Monia Chokri went to collect the César for best foreign film in last February. She had styled Christopher Nolan and his very famous Oppenheimer.

The film was also chosen for best cinematography, provided by André Turpin.

Chokri’s film also largely dominated the nominations, with a total of 14.

Documentaries were also rewarded on Wednesday in different categories: The White Guard by Julien Elie, Saigon Mom de Khoa Le et Boreal feast Robert Morin

Among the winners for short and medium films, we find A hole in the chestby Jean-Sébastien Hamel and Alexandra Myotte, as well as Vibrations from Gazade Rehab Nazzal.

The Gala Québec Cinéma will be broadcast on Sunday at 8 p.m. on Noovo. Comedian Phil Roy will be at the helm of the gala.
