The Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Regional Directorate for the Environment, Planning and Housing (Dreal) organized this Thursday, from 7 a.m., an operation dedicated to the control of light goods transport vehicles, in Nuits-Saint- George. “During this end-of-year period, which is conducive to online shopping ( Black friday end-of-year celebrations), a notable increase in the number of parcel deliveries is to be expected, with the excesses that could arise from the need to transport goods in very large numbers and quickly”, warns Ludovic Millefanti, head of the transport control center at Dreal. The operation was carried out by three land transport controllers from Dreal, accompanied by two soldiers from the anti-fraud group of the national gendarmerie.
Schedules, social declarations, road safety…
All regulations applicable to the road transport sector (timetables, vehicle tonnage, transport license, etc.) have been verified, as well as the social declarations concerning the employees employed. Particular attention was also paid “to the relationship between principals and subcontractors with regard to the obligations of vigilance in matters of subcontracting, as well as to road safety rules, aimed at the general condition of vehicles and the behavior of drivers in the face of addictive behavior (alcohol levels, narcotics, etc.)”
Twenty-two vehicles checked
Twenty-two light utility vehicles were checked during the three hours of the operation, with the following findings: one absence of a transport license on board the vehicle, two absences of an individual inspection booklet (intended to verify the working hours of the drivers), a lack of seat belt, a telephone held in hand while driving, a non-compliant registration plate, a driving license not transformed in France, a technical inspection failure, crossing a solid line.
