After a difficult first half for Arne Slot's men, Liverpool took the lead thanks to a good offensive performance in the second half.

Asked about the difference between the two halves, Jones said: “I think it’s the energy. That's what went well. We dominated the matches, we had all the ball and we scored some great goals. But if you look at the stats and how long we've been riding and rushing, that's the bottom line.

“I think we were sloppy in the first half. We were slow, we lost many duels and we received cards [jaunes] flexible. This just shows that you are a little slow in your tackling. It's one of those days. In the second half we showed it. We have a great team and a great camp. We never give up. »

Jones also made his 150th appearance for Liverpool after moving from the Academy to the senior team, marking the occasion with a goal on Tyneside.

“It means everything,” Jones said of the achievement. “It’s as simple as that. I am a child who went through the academy. I am a Scouser myself. I have always supported the club, so I hope there will be more and more matches. »
